Slim Pimpin'

Slim Pimpin'

We featured David Harrison’s 1953 Belair back in our December 2023 issue of Cruise Culture Magazine and as we got to know Dave and what he is all about we learned about this foundation named after his daughter who was taken way to young. Angelina’s Dream Foundation holds many    fundraising events through out the year to help young adults achieve their dreams through scholarships and community.

One such event is Angelina’s Summer Showdown happening this August in Cheyenne Wyoming. Cruise Culture Magazine will be in attendance meeting all the amazing people, checking out all of the amazing rides and covering the event on our YouTube Channel and in the magazine.

At this show, which is the second annual, they will be  raffling off this beautiful 1966 Lincoln Continental named “Slim Pimpin”. Tickets are available now and go to a great cause so make sure you reach out to them to find out how you can purchase a chance to win the car that we are fortunate enough to show off here.

Built with the tight deadline of only seven months of only available weekends and evenings and the help of volunteers and sponsors, this ’66 Lincoln has been built to impress. First thing David and his team do is walk the car to come up with a basic plan, They choose the paint, drivetrain, suspension, and any fabrication work. The next and arguable most challenging part of the build is trying to get sponsors and tracking down all of the parts within the available budget.

The entire car has been gone through and modified including a freshly rebuilt 6.0 LS engine and a 4L80e transmission. Dave and the Dream Team stated “why even build a Lincoln if you’re not gonna lay it on the ground!” and ain’t that a fact. The car has a Murray’s custom full air ride kit on it that includes all new suspension components from Murray’s Rod Shop, a C-notch kit with an Airslamit air management.

Once all of the chassis, engine, and fabrication work was done, the team including Adam Stief, Jacob Cuccia, Rick Lara, and David Harrison got to work on the body with goal of a silky smooth and classy style including smoothing out all of the trim. Adam Stief with Hold Fast Kustom Paint laid down the smooth Satin White finish and blacked out all the trim and windows.

The brakes on the car have been fully upgraded with all new brake lines and front disc brake conversion and all new drum brakes in the rear completed by The Brake Stop.

Inside, the car has a fresh interior with a custom made digital dash cluster that was fabricated to fit in the factory location and the air management controller was fabricated and located into the ash tray for a clean factory look.

Angelina’s Dream Foundation is all about making dreams come true and this Lincoln will be a dream come true for someone. “For me, owning and customizing this car has given me an outlet to continue to honor Angelina. As a little girl all she ever wanted to do was be in the shop with me, cruise to car shows whether it was in a    jalopy I was working on or in a finished product and be a part of the car culture. She would     always dress up in her best pin-up style outfit and inspect all the cars until she found the one that she deemed the best. It helped me remember all the great times that we had in the car community together. Its motivated me to be able and give another mom, dad or kid the opportunity to do the same with their family. The car  community is a tight and loving group that has helped me out and being able to do this gives me the piece of knowing the tradition will carry on with another family.” Recalls David.

The biggest take away that I have is that its less about the car and more about the build and   enjoyment you get after its done. It’s easy to go and buy a completed car but there is something special about being surrounded by friends and family in a shop designing, discussing, and   building a car. You get to express your thoughts and ideas in a way that is hard to do with anything else. It’s always super cool to know that all the work invested in this car was truly from everyone’s heart. Every individual involved spent time away from their families, businesses, and personal responsibilities to help me create a legacy for Angelina and ultimately make someone’s dream come true by winning this beautiful car.”

This build comes with a long list of thank you’s including all the volunteers that make up the “Dream Team” donating 100% of their time including Ben Clark, Zac Stief, Jeremy Gipfert, Gavin Gipfert, Brandon Jones, Bobby Brown, Dallas Ortiz, Chloe Ortiz, Rick Lara, Adam Stief, Jacob Cuccia, Eli Pederson, and Nate McDonald. They also had amazing support including time, events, and funds, and the complete drivetrain donated by the Hells Angels Nomads Wyoming. Other businesses who have donated time and resources to this awesome cause are Auto Skinz LLC with new glass and tint, The Brake Shop with all new braking system, Big Als with a custom exhaust, Clean Slate Blasting for sand blasting and metal prep, Hold Fast Kustom Paint (owner Adam Stief, and the help of Rick Lara, and Jacob Cuccia), Andrade Racing who did all the tuning, Wyotech with a  custom interior, Hallers Repair, Torque Drivelines in Wyoming (David Smith), LaFore Lincoln rebuilt all of the window switches, and Eli Grubbs was their LS specialist.

You can win this car on August 24th at Frontier Park in Cheyenne Wyoming at the second annual Angelina’s Summer Showdown with the purchase of a Raffle Ticket. Contact Angelina’s Dream Foundation on Instagram or Facebook or visit the website at angelinasdreamfoundation.org
